I think it's a bug in the sense that iText wasn't prepared to find text syntax in a content stream that contains no text whatsoever. Your fix is OK, but I wouldn't add the check in the loop, I would check the text in the renderText method: f renderInfo.getText() returns null or an empty string, I wouldn't create a location object and I wouldn't add it to the locationalResult list.
