Many of us have been unaware of the development of a new standard for IT Governance that is being published these days: ISO/IEC 38500. This new standard is the very first official statement that is made on the definition and specification of IT Governance and will have significant influence on the organization of the information management function. If you would be interested in learning more on this standard, please read: - http://en.itsmporta l.net/en/ node/15762 (ITSM PORTAL International news item) - http://nl.itsmporta l.net/goto/ nieuws/2748. xml (ITSM PORTAL Dutch news item) - http://www.bita- center.com/ ITgovernance_ seminar (seminar information page) - http://www.iso. org/iso/iso_ catalogue/ catalogue_ tc/catalogue_ detail.htm ?csnumber=45429 (ISO page)
For those of you that live in Europe: you may be able to visit the European launch semniar of the new standard, at May 26 in Amsterdam - Schiphol Airport. The new ISO standard was based on the Australian Standard AS8015 (see http://www.bita- center.com/pdf/ Chapter_AS8015_ Frameworks_ pocketguide_ 2007.pdf for an abstract). More information on the background can be found at the bottom of the seminar page. The seminar offers a unique opportunity for everyone engaging in IT Governance in a professional manner, to see how the new ISO standard is constructed and especially how it works in practice. The seminar will be held in Schiphol Airport NH Hotel, Amsterdam, for easy access from all over Europe. The schedule has been constructed in such a way that attendees can fly in and out from all over Europe on one day. If there is enough interest in creating a network meeting in the evening of 26 May, I'd be happy to set something up.
