We would love to have Ruby and ruby-gems from a reasonably recent version of Ruby in a supported Yum repo. I wouldn't vote for 1.9.x because it is nearly EOL <https://www.ruby- lang.org/en/news/2014/01/10/ruby-1-9-3-will-end-on-2015/>. I also fear replacing the system ruby since it could cause incompatibility issues elsewhere. I think a properly *packaged* version of Ruby and a bunch of "gems" would really make running Ruby application servers in production a *whole* lot easier.
