Hello Tommy, Thanks for taking the time to submit this request. With all new package requests, we evaluate if it would be a good fit for IUS and if it is maintainable with our current resources.
In the past, interest in Ruby packages has been short lived. Due to this, I have not done much investigation regarding adding Ruby to IUS. I can start looking into what it would take to package an updated version of Ruby. Please note, that maintaining our current work load does take priority over new packages and I do not know much about Ruby. Could you please clarify 'bunch of "gems"'. Generally, we only package modules as requested. Are there specific gems that you need or would be consider essential? I ask as, I got approached to package a single ruby gem based on stock ruby for a separate project. It turns out that one gem required like ten other gems, so I would need to package almost a dozen gems. That was more work than I could devote to that project. Do most gems have a long dependency tree of other gems? If it looks like we could add Ruby, would you be available to do testing? We require feedback from the requester before we push a new package into the stable repos. -Ben -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of IUS Core Development, which is subscribed to IUS Community Project. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/473814 Title: WL: ruby 1.9 Status in IUS Community Project: In Progress Bug description: RFE: Add Ruby 1.9 Packages To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ius/+bug/473814/+subscriptions _______________________________________________ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ius-coredev Post to : [email protected] Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ius-coredev More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
