BTW if you want to create a new bug for this it would be good, just to make
sure we are talking about the same issue and yours gets tracked and fixed too.

I have not seen one. Or the patch, but one of our engineers in Finland said he
was testing a patch for this today, before he went home.

Is there a bug report describing this defect? I haven't been able to find it
in JIRA (which may just be my fat fingers...)

I believe there is a patch for this in review now and should be fixed in our
builds in the next couple of days.

Here<https://wiki.tizen.org/wiki/IVI/IVI_August_29,_3.0-M2-Aug> describes
installing the home screen on weston. I found:

  * From the weston terminal, you don't have enough privilege to complete the
install. If you try to sudo, you get asked for the app password.
  * When you install as root you get an error "defaults.list is not a desktop
file".
  * Rebooting after the install results in a black screen (no observable
desktop). System is not hung-- Ctrl-Alt-Fx all switch between terminals, no
(new) error is reported on TTY0 (Ctrl-Alt-F1).
