S-Video uses a different audio path. The microcontroller should be 
turned off for S-Video and Composite. Check with --log-status that it 
is not running. I also may have removed too much: there was a 
soft-reset (reg 0x810) that I removed (since I now stop/start the 
microcontroller), but I now realize that in the case of 
S-Video/Composite that soft-reset might still be needed.
