It's probably not necessary for me to send this update since Ben's 
message,
but to be complete... I updated to 2.4.32 kernel last night.
Trying to recompile and install the ivtv drivers has no change.
   ivtv-0.4.0 works fine
   ivtv-0.4.1 - 0.4.5  fails on the install
