I am getting an oops on modprobing ivtv. Any idea why? Any
suggestions of what I should do?

Hardware: clone with Athlon CPU, PVR-250 card, ATI video card, lots of
RAM and disk.

Software:
- fresh Fedora Core 5 install + updates as of a week ago
- kernel is Linux version 2.6.17-1.2139_FC5 ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) (gcc version
4.1.1 20060525 (Red Hat 4.1.1-1)) #1 Fri Jun 23 12:40:16 EDT 2006
- selected ATRPMS stable rpms added:
    ivtv-0.7-115.rhfc5.at.i386.rpm
    ivtv-firmware-audio-0.0.1-5.at.noarch.rpm
    ivtv-firmware-dec-2.02.023-9.at.noarch.rpm
    ivtv-firmware-enc-2.04.024-9.at.noarch.rpm
    ivtv-kmdl-2.6.17-1.2139_FC5-0.7-115.rhfc5.at.i686.rpm
    perl-Video-Frequencies-0.03-3.rhfc5.at.noarch.rpm
    perl-Video-ivtv-0.13-7.rhfc5.at.i386.rpm
    video4linux-20060627-74.rhfc5.at.i386.rpm
    video4linux-kmdl-2.6.17-1.2139_FC5-20060627-74.rhfc5.at.i686.rpm

I was interested to see that a couple of these rpms did not include
any files:
  ivtv-firmware-audio-0.0.1-5.at.noarch.rpm
  video4linux-20060627-74.rhfc5.at.i386.rpm
I guess that the installation/deinstallation scripts must do
something.

I had *not* rebooted after I installed the rpms. I just did a
"modprobe ivtv". I got the oops that you will see at the end of this
message.

I rebooted just in case that was required. The reboot hung part way in
(I don't remember the state at that point). Rebooting with another
(older) kernel worked, and I then removed the rpms that I had added.

Here's the dmesg output that should be relevant. I started a couple
of lines early because I don't know why my system was deemed
"tainted".
