1) which input do you select in ivtv-0.8.0 for S-Video?
2) which input do you select in ivtv-0.3.2q for S-Video?
3) when capturing from S-Video with ivtv-0.8.0 run v4l2-ctl --log-status
and post the output from that command.
That should be enough to find the problem.
