In 0.4, some VBI parameters get set in ivtv_probe(), in a section that does autoloading of requisite modules. But it seems to me these parameters have nothing to do with autoloading. Indeed, when I run the driver without autoload, with the various required modules loaded explicitly, and read sliced VBI data, the kernel crashes with a divide by zero in compress_sliced_buf(). It divides by itv->vbi_sliced_decoder_line_size, which I presume is zero because it was simply never set.
