An old one:

$ ls -agGh *bz2
-rw-rw-r-- 1 32M 2007-11-04 06:29 mythplugins-fixes-svn14795.tar.bz2
-rw-rw-r-- 1 25M 2007-11-04 06:28 myththemes-fixes-svn14795.tar.bz2
-rw-rw-r-- 1 23M 2007-11-04 06:27 mythtv-fixes-svn14795.tar.bz2

(Once I went through the pain of setting up MythTV from the source, I
didn't want to do it again anytime soon.)

I tell MythTV that the /dev/video1 device, that corresponds to the cx18
driver, is a PVR-150/PVR-500. I never had an HVR-1600 entry in
mythtv-setup. :)

And just to eliminate the obvious:

Before doing a "modprobe -r cx18; modprobe cx18 debug=n" make sure the
mythbackend doesn't have /dev/video* open for some reason:

   $ /sbin/fuser /dev/video*

Also make sure that the cx18 module comes back with the same device
nodes that you told mythtv-setup about, with the proper permissions.
