In many ways the safest might be to get the

original version again

which is available again at

http://membres.lycos.fr/badzzzz/

OK, I'll replace the ivtv driver version with

this one then. I thought

the ivtv driver was including newer copies.

In 100z it looks like Chris just shipped the

source for his driver

which i guess we could rebuild but i dont

have X 4.3.0 on my machine

at the moment, though i have the source in

tar files so i just need

to expand them and build everything.

I think it's better to have this in source

(only), and make sure it

builds on all boxes, or not?

I'm not sure is that what is causing these

problems possibly. Is it

because

people are building it and its failing to build

properly.

That would possibly make sense but in that case

we need to work out

what
is

wrong with the build process rather than

changing the source.

John

Now I'm using the one from

http://membres.lycos.fr/badzzzz/ and X

works, but it is very slow. Another problem is

the desktop, that is

greater than 720 x 576 as configured in

xorg.conf.

Dirk

Yes it is slow but what are you using it for? The

newer versions are faster

but need a newer ivtv version than 100zz.

Are you sure the desktop is greater than 720x576.

The normal problem is

overscan which means that you cant see all of the

720x576 on the tv. You

loose some lines at the top and bottom and ~50

pixels on each side.

John

Yes you are right. I guess it is the overscan
problem. How can I fix it ?
You mentioned, that the newer versions are faster.
Is it recommendable, to use e.g. 0.2.x for my MythBox ? Is only the
performance optimized (how much) or do the newer versions have more
advantages ?

Dirk

0.2 is better in many ways (auto-detection, newer card
support etc.) But if what you are using is working
then it may be better to stay with what you have.

As for working round the overscan it depends on what
you want. I run X with no window manager and then
change the overscan settings in mythtv. This works
except for the OSD displayed during playback etc.
which suffers overscan but this is not too bad and i
may work around this in myth soon.
The other way is to use a window manager that supports
setting a virtual (smaller) screen size and configure
it appropriatly. I have seen people mention that this
works with ratpoison .

John

I found that part of myth's setup, where I can change the size and the offset of myth's GUI, but changing the offset has no affect.
