Why are you using xawtv? That's for frame grabbers, not MPEG encoders. Try
mplayer.

Subject: [ivtv-devel] pvr-150 installation problems

I'm trying to install a pvr-150 on an AMD Athlon system running Slackware
10.0 with kernel 2.4.26. I'm using ivtv-0.3.2a (earlier versions locked up
when I tried "modprobe ivtv". Modules seem to load okay, but xawtv will seg
fault and reloading the firmware with "ivtvctl -H" fails with dmesg
reporting:

ivtv: FW Reload: Set DEC IRQ Mask!
Resetting Firmware!!!
ivtv: Sleeping for 10 ms
ivtv: Sleeping for 10 ms
ivtv: invalid api mailbox
ivtv: Decoder firmware dead!
ivtv: Firmware not responding, trying mailboxes again
ivtv: invalid api mailbox
ivtv: Decoder firmware dead!
ivtv: Firmware not responding, giving up!
ivtv: invalid api mailbox

Here's the rest of dmesg output (prior to the firmware reload):

options msp3400 once=1 simple=1
add below ivtv wm8775 msp3400 saa7115 tuner
# end

I'm also confused about what modules are needed for the 150. I think I need
cx25840.o, but I cannot load this module:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:/etc# modprobe cx25840
/lib/modules/2.4.26/kernel/drivers/media/video/cx25840.o: unresolved symbol

/lib/modules/2.4.26/kernel/drivers/media/video/cx25840.o: insmod cx25840

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
