Well, one thing I noted and was not happy about is that I had a /lib/modules/2.6.10-1.741_FC3/extra directory that contained another set of ivtv related files. To simplify matters, I renamed all of those. And rather than renaming msp3400-ivtv to msp3400, I just made an alias to it in my modprobe.conf. I'm not sure if any of that mattered. It didn't seem to.
At this point, I should say that right now, everything seems to be working. HOWEVER, this is after one more change. I had been disconnecting the coax and switching between one tuner and the other. I only had one spare lead that wasn't connected to something (TV, TiVo, VCR). Well, I disconnected the VCR (always low man on the totem pole anyhow) and had BOTH tuners connected to coax. And that seemed to make all the difference. It seems like it may be that the cards were in some way affected by/aware of when the cable was connected/disconnected. Doesn't make sense to me, but there it is. I think I'm in good shape now. Thanks.
