I've got a PVR-500 and after making these changes I also get video and audio on 
the svideo0 input.  The interesting thing, however, is that it only works on 
/dev/video1.  On /dev/video0 I still get nothing but static.  I'm not sure if I 
have the tuners wrong or if it's something else.  I peeled back a sticker on 
one of the tuners and it looks like it's a Philips FQ1236 but I get /dev/video1 
working with tuner type 47, which is an LG TAPE.  I know Philips and LG are 
somehow associated, but I'm wondering if there are two different tuners on the 
card or if there is something else wrong.
