Hi,

Sorry for the late reply... so the switching to PAL was because i was
setting it to that in my modules.conf.  I was messing wiht all the
settings... trying different tuner types just to see if anythign would
work.
my modules.conf now has just the following

ive been using ptune-ui  to change frequencies and using mplayer -vo
xv /dev/video0 to view.

All channels still come in static except channel 14 when using
ntsc-cable-jp.  channel 14 comes in black and white with some static,
but you can see the silhouettes of the images.  Also I dual boot
windows xp and have tested the card under xp and it works fine when
using the hauppauge software with ntsc hrc cable.
