Hasn't this changed with new versions of module-init-tools? (required by newer kernel-image packages IIRC) It now uses /etc/modprobe.d/ , so config for ivtv belongs in /etc/modules.d/ivtv . 2.4 kernels still use /etc/modutils/ and update-modules to generate /etc/modules.conf I think. This is for Sarge anyway, not sure about other releases (who uses stable anyway?!)
