Hi, I'm experiencing problems with the sound on my Hauppauge 500MCE. I got it
two work twice (on a total of 40-50 attempts or so). In both cases, sound
disappeared after changing channels and I couldn't get it back. So hardware
seems to be fine, using mplayer /dev/video0 to watch the video and ivtvctl
-r xxxx to tune.

I'm not sure if this is helpful in this particular case, but the only way I can get sound from my pvr500 is to add 'options cx25840 audiofmt=0x04' to my modprobe.conf.

Petter

OK... The audio decoder mutes the input if it doesn't detect what it considers "valid" audio. It does this by muting the specific input. The problem I have is the quickstart audio guide does not match up with what either the Windows OR ivtv driver is doing... Also I'm missing some crucial pages (they are corrupted) in the copy of the (unabridged) datasheet I have... I may have some time tomorrow to look at this.

Again, if anyone has the full datasheet, please send it (off list is acceptable!)

Cheers,

Allan.
