I have gained a greater understanding of the audio problem in versions

The audio recording from a PVR-500 is being substantially overdriven
at the same recording volume setting that a PVR-250 records at
'normal' volume. The difference between the two cards is probably at
least 8 db, maybe 10 db. Myth doesn't have per-card adjustments, so
backing off on the recording volume in the recording profile
sufficiently to prevent overdriving the PVR-500 leaves the PVR-250
recording volume too quiet to be usable.
This problem was not present in 0.3.2w. I don't know when it was
introduced.
0x8D4 and 0x8E4 appear to be volume controls for the two audio input
paths. I'm not sure if these will only apply to tuner audio and not from
the AC97 (line) inputs.
Cheers,
Allan.
