Hi list,
I'm having some trouble with auto starting X on my PVR350 during a cold or
warm boot.
Here's what happens during a bootup sequence on my PC:
<other stuff starting>
modules are loaded (ivtv-fb and lirc_i2c among others)
<other stuff starting>
mythbackend is started
<other stuff starting>
Xorg is started on the PVR350 framebuffer on vt8 with it's own layout
xdm is started on graphics card on vt7
<other stuff starting>
mythfrontend is started on Xorg on the PVR350 framebuffer
<other stuff starting>
Now the problem is that Xorg is not always started correctly it seems. When I
take a look at Xorg.1.log (the one on the PVR350 at vt8) I see it _sometimes_
stops right before starting the PCI scan. Mythfrontend is still started but
it is floating somewhere in cyberspace wearing it's invisibility cloak as far
as I can tell ;)
I have to kill mythfrontend (it still listens when I say die :P) and kill -9
Xorg. When I restart them all is well (always!)
Now my question is, is this an ivtv issue? or is it an X quirk? (I had the
same problem when I used XFree86 instead of Xorg)
Will some "sleep 5" magic inserted at (in)appropriate places come to my
rescue? It can safe me a lot of trouble running around the house screaming
die, die, die :P
Thanks to anyone who can shed some light here.
For reference here's Xorg.1.log:
