This can be affected by how the xine OSD is configured.

The quickest fix is probably to manually edit the config file (usually 
~/.xine/config). Look for gui.osd_use_unscaled, make sure it's not commented 
out & set it to 0.

If you hunt, this option can also be set through the menu.
