As far as I can tell the driver is already no longer kernel 2.4
compatible. (new wait.h routines)

I suggest backing up to where these new routines came into being and do
the version split there to minimize confusion. My unanswered posts have
attracted about 4-5 emails from people asking me if I know how to fix
it. No clue except for new kernel.

Can someone forward me to some information on how I might go about
upgrading my kernel? I've tried in the past and got stuck on a "no
inittab found" error. Is there an apt source that might have it?
What's the probability of bricking because of it?

I am currently using a heavily modified knoppmyth v4r5 installation. I
have no way of backing up the bootable partition. I guess I could copy
the live root partition to the video drive. How would I get this back
to the root drive incase of disaster? I guess I'm asking how I do I
manually rebuild a bootable disk in Linux?

I tried gentoo to learn all this stuff but at 700mzh the compiles took
forever as you can imagine. I got half the boot loader compiled and
installed before I gave up.

Thanks and sorry for my shortness today, yet another in a long string of
bad days.

I'm all for it. I am willing to fill in the svn repository based on all
the
.tgz files and even the old sourceforge cvs repository, provided someone
else
(i.e. you :-) can take care of the 'internet' side of things. That's not
my cup
of tea.

Comments anyone?
