It compiles. But I get the following when I update-modules (actually
depmod -e I think)

depmod: *** Unresolved symbols in
/lib/modules/2.4.25-chw/kernel/drivers/media/video/ivtv.o
depmod: finish_wait
depmod: prepare_to_wait
depmod: DEFINE_WAIT
depmod: *** Unresolved symbols in
/lib/modules/2.4.25-chw/kernel/drivers/media/video/msp3400.o
depmod: finish_wait
depmod: prepare_to_wait
depmod: DEFINE_WAIT

A google search gives me this mailing list and a vague reference to
kernel 2.6xxx

I can compile with shtload of warnings. When I try to boot with it, I
get a kernel panic immediately after bootstrap. no inittab (or
something like that). Knoppix is a brain damaged distro of debian.
Nothing is where it should be. If I had a way to do a system backup and
restore I would start over with a debian with a 2.6 kernel .... I
worked too hard on this to just "format".

I haven't found a site that can help me through this and I haven't had
the time to beat it into submission myself.

I managed to compile it for 2.4.31. Not sure if it will also run, but
it compiles.

Can't you just download the source and compile it? OK, it may take a
long time if you have a slow box, but so what?
