I have been using the old 0.1.9 driver for some time,
before switching to 0.3.3k.
But, for some reason I don't understand, I am unable
to get the latest (0.3.7g) drivers to load or depmod
properly at all.
I am able to build it without complaints from my
compiler (GCC3.3.6), but it has some obvious
dependency errors when I do a "depmod."
Then, it complains about a "circular dependency" when
I try to load it anyway.

Here is the error I get when I use depmod:
depmod: *** Unresolved symbols in
/lib/modules/2.4.28/kernel/drivers/media/video/cx25840.o
depmod: *** Unresolved symbols in
/lib/modules/2.4.28/kernel/drivers/media/video/ivtv-fb.o
depmod: *** Unresolved symbols in
/lib/modules/2.4.28/kernel/drivers/media/video/ivtv.o
depmod: *** Unresolved symbols in
/lib/modules/2.4.28/kernel/drivers/media/video/msp3400.o
depmod: *** Unresolved symbols in
/lib/modules/2.4.28/kernel/drivers/media/video/saa7115.o
depmod: *** Unresolved symbols in
/lib/modules/2.4.28/kernel/drivers/media/video/saa7127.o
depmod: *** Unresolved symbols in
/lib/modules/2.4.28/kernel/drivers/media/video/tveeprom.o
depmod: *** Unresolved symbols in
/lib/modules/2.4.28/kernel/drivers/media/video/wm8775.o

I get this when I attempt to do a simple "modprobe
ivtv":
modprobe: Too deep recursion in module dependencies!
modprobe: Circular dependency? msp3400 ivtv
Abort

I have also discovered that 0.3.3k itself will no
longer even compile at all.

I don't know why this should be happening, and I have
since been forced to drop back to 0.1.9 with its
attendant performance limitations.
I don't know if it's my kernel, compiler, or system
include files and libs causing the problem, but it's
quite annoying to get working the way it should be.
FWIW, my kernel is 2.4.28 with the patches for I2C 2.8
and for LIRC.
Should I move on to the latest 2.4 series kernel with
the patches I mention above, or make the jump to the
latest 2.6 series, again with patches?
And, whichever way I go, where are the patches for the
kernel I choose?
They don't seem to be fully maintained anymore.

Thanks,

-Scott
