Thats odd. Mine is starting up, and works very well except for the xv part.
I also compile against the ebuild.
xvinfo says no adapters present.
I got another box with gentoo/pvr350 but intel32, they are very much in the 
same state software wise,
and there xv works just fine.

Here is another row which seems to be explaining.
