Hopefully this information will help someone. I did some testing with MythTV. My PVR-350 tv-out is set to display at 720x480.
I setup my system to record at 352x240. On playback the image was semi-transparent and there were ghost images on left and right of the center image. Then I tried 480x480 and 512x480.
