As far as I can tell MythTV enables VBI embedding depending on the VBI setting. However, you can also set that up yourself with ivtvctl and that code is also a bit buggy so I might get away with dropping the old API altogether.
OK, I see. I've always used ivtvctl to turn on VBI embedding; as far as I could tell the settings in MythTV have never done anything except turning on the non-functioning CC menu.

Hauppauge very kindly provided me with a second PVR350 (Thanks!!) so I will try to setup MythTV this weekend (time permitting) and then I can finally test MythTV problems myself.
I'm glad to hear that - as great as this project is, the "CC turns of when you FF or REW" bug is the biggest reason I can't use it on a regular basis.

Speaking of great, I want to thank you and all the other developers involved in this project. I am amazed at the functionality and quality you have managed to provide with the ivtv and ivtvdev drivers. The results are both fun and useful and have provided me with a great deal of enjoyment as I pursue this acpect of my linux hobby.
