It's the same firmware used by all FC/RH users for over a year
now. It's been downloaded almost 40000 times since, so it looks like a
solid firmware, and I wouldn't like to change two variables at a
time. But I'm open to any observations made when comparing the
firmwares.

Yes, but 0.4.1 checks the legacy location, too. That's OK for now, as
the default hotplug location for firmwares changes with every new FC
release.

BTW is there any build-time detection mechanism to find out where
hotplug will look for the firmware?
