You don't need options, but the aliases part of the modification in  
Jarod's guide are required for using the atrpms.  See, here's what  
happens : atrpms installs some modules that already exist in the  
kernel, but Axel wants to guarantee that the ivtv modules are given  
precedence over the kernel modules.  So he adds an -ivtv to the name  
of the module, and then adds lines to modprobe.conf that tell it to  
use these names instead of the names of the modules in the kernel.   
Your particular setup looks like its dying because its using the  
kernel version of msp3400.  If you add the line :
alias msp3400 msp3400-ivtv
It will force it to use the ivtv version, which is named msp3400- 
ivtv.ko in the atrpm.

Although the kernel versions of tuner and tveeprom should work fine  
for your card, you could also force your system to use the ivtv  
versions by adding alias lines for them as well (the remaining  
duplicated module, tda9887, is not used on the pvr250).
