Hi,

I've bought a new computer 3 or 4 months ago and I've put a hauppauge pvr
500 mce in it. First I was running mandriva 2006 and got it working. Then
I installed gentoo but it didn't work on gentoo. When paritition magic
blew my mandriva partition up, I couldn't get it working on mandriva
either. I followed the gentoo-wiki
(http://gentoo-wiki.com/HARDWARE_PVR_500_Setup) which explains how to
install a hauppauge pvr 500 on gentoo, but it didn't work. At the very
beginning it says this:

You should first check to see if your tuner will even work.
 [EMAIL PROTECTED] $ dmesg | grep -i irq | grep -i disabl
This should give no results. If it lists something, it may mean that there
are IRQ conflicts. on one of my systems, the tv card and sound card
required some specific PCI slots.

That's where it went wrong, I got this output:
ACPI: PCI Interrupt Link [LNK1] (IRQs 3 4 5 7 9 10 11 12 14 15) *0, disabled.
ACPI: PCI Interrupt Link [LNK2] (IRQs 3 4 5 7 9 10 11 12 14 15) *0, disabled.

I get this message on mandriva too, but I don't know if I got this when
this card worked, so I don't know if I have to solve this problem or just
ignore it. When I ran coldplug when my system was starting, it couldn't
load the pci devices. When I couldn't find any way to solve it, I just
ignored it. I tried to install ivtv by installing the portage package
(0.4.2), but it wouldn't work. It was complaining that he couldn't find
the modules and firmware. Then I downloaded ivtv and installed it from
source (0.4.2 and 0.4.3). But this didn't made any sense. I got the same
like messages. This is what i get when I type dmesg |grep ivtv:

I mainly focussed on these lines:
ivtv0: unable to open firmware v4l-cx2341x-enc.fw
ivtv0: did you put the firmware in the hotplug firmware directory?

I followed the ivtvdriver tutorial how to get the right firmware. I
checked them with md5sum and everything was allright. I've put them in
/usr/lib64/hotplug/firmware:
[EMAIL PROTECTED] ~ $ ls /usr/lib64/hotplug/firmware
v4l-cx2341x-dec.fw v4l-cx2341x-enc.fw v4l-cx2341x-init.mpg v4l-cx25840.fw

/etc/hotplug/firmware.agent:
FIRMWARE_DIR=/usr/lib/hotplug/firmware/ (/usr/lib/ is linked to /usr/lib64)
Still he is complaining that he can't open the firmware.

This is where I can't imagine anything to solve this problem: it just
should work, I can't find anything wrong.

Here's some information about my system:
Motherboard: Asus A8N-E
Kernel: 2.6.15-ck3 (this can't be the problem, can it?)
ivtv used: portage ivtv 0.4.2 and ivtv from source 0.4.2 and 0.4.3
Did I forget anything?

I hope you guys can help me. Thanks in advantage, Michael

Btw: my english isn't verry good because it's not my native language. But
please correct it when I'm using wrong expressions etc.
