connected to the tuner input on the card...)

I haved used the following commands to test the driver:
# cat /dev/video0 > /tmp/test_capture.mpg
# mplayer /tmp/test_capture.mpg

All I get is a screen of static and the sound track is the sound of static.

Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated.
