I think tvscan is a part of xawtv so it doesn't support ivtv either.
But the next version of xawtv, xawtv 4 and its tvscan, supports ivtv!
The bad news is that is hasn't been an official release yet, so you
have to compile it yourself. I don't use ubuntu myself, but there is a
thread in the ubunto forums that describes how to compile xawtv
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=170884 . The thread also
contains a deb package if you want to try that. Actually, I suggest
that you try to get xawtv4 to work, and use this software instead of
xine or mplayer.
