Ok..so I am breaking the Cardinal Rule of asking for help, getting a
recommendation, then doing something different.
I was having problems yesterday with getting IVTV to work (see:
'Unknown Symbol Errors after FC3 -> FC4 Upgrade and IVTV Fresh
Install' posts). Phil and Simon helped me a bunch and the next step
was for me to try recompiling the kernel and doing a fresh reload.
Quick background...did an FC3 to FC4 upgrade on my MythTV box,
ultimately couldn't get sound to work, wiped the install clean and
tried compiling IVTV directly...ran into issues (as posted).
Before I followed Phil's recommendation, I figured I would try a fresh
install using YUM as someone reported a similar problem on the MythTV
list today.
I wiped everything clean, including firmware files that I had laid
down, yum installed ivtv-firmware, ivtv-kmdl, and ivtv from
atrpms.net. Picture works greak...but now again, no sound.
I did a number of cold reboots, removed old modules, reloaded,
confirmed the firmware was correct. I did notice that I have multiple
'ivtv.ko' files:
/lib/modules/$KVER/ivtv/ivtv.ko
/lib/modules/$KVER/kernel/drivers/media/video/ivtv.ko
/lib/modules/$KVER/updates/drivers/media/video/ivtv.ko
The first two are the same, the one in 'updates' is different and older.
Any suggestions? I am getting so close and my girlfirend is very
pissed as we are going on day six of no TV. BTW, I use OSS; freshly
installed after the FC4 upgrade (previous MythTV recordings and
MythMusic work fine).
