With the assistance of Axel Thimm, my sound problem is resolved and my myth box is back.
Per Axel's recommendation, I booted with another kernel, removed the other kernel and devel packages and then started over. This fixed my problem. I must have had some residual ivtv files from when I tried to compile it myself.
