I've connected a Hauppage PVR-150 MCE to a DirecTV DVR with a composite
A/V cable.  I can see TV with:

ivtvctl -p 2
mplayer -nolirc -nojoystick -vo xv /dev/video0

I don't normally watch TV that way, though; I use the card only when I
want to capture something off the DVR for burning to DVD.
