In the middle of May, I received my first PVR-500 from Hauppauge and fired it up with ivtv-0.4.5. Samsung tuners. Tuner 1 was blocky/fuzzy, tuner 2 was clear, so (after reading through the various posts to this email group), I contacted Hauppauge and received an RMA. (A day later, both tuners were blocky/fuzzy.) Since I couldn't change channels while watching live TV under Myth, I installed ivtv-0.4.4. Still had blocky/fuzzy pictures from both tuners.
This week, I received the replacement PVR-500 and fired it up with the previously installled ivtv-0.4.4. Samsung tuners. And the picture from both tuners looks fine. (The same tuner type as before was detected by tveeprom.) And I did not apply Hans' Samsung tuner patch. So, it was likely that my first PVR-500 was bad. But is it possible that ivtv-0.4.5 could cause corruption/failure of the board? (I'd rather not try it myself since it's working at the moment.)
