One other thing you can try is to run 'i2cdetect -a 0' to see if the 
cx25840 shows up. If you see 'XX' for address 0x44, then that is a 
strong indication that something is wrong.

I'd be happy to help you, but I first need proof that the card really 
isn't broken. Every so often cards do break. Amittedly the 
circumstances point towards another cause, but still before I start 
digging I need this proof.
