Sam means the tarball's name, not the contents. But I'm rather
clueless as to how this could be versioned. Even a date seems wrong.

Yes. There was a lengthy license discussion and draft proposal that
was submitted to Hauppauge's legal dep that would look very similar to
Intel's firmware license (in fact it was used as a base by permission
from Intel's legal dep :).

The license processing got stuck somehwere, I can't say for certain,
but I guess it involves convincing the partners like Conexant to
accept this license, too (the firmware is not simply under Hauppauge's
IP).

Hauppauge won't object, and maybe we'll get a firmware license at some
time.
