I had mythtv working just fine but then wanted to install mytharchive to make writing DVDs easier. Mytharchive apparently only installs from subversion so I had to upgrade my mythtv. I downloaded everything with subversion and reinstalled.
While I was at it, I also upgraded to the latest kernel which meant updating the ivtv drivers. I had been using kernel 2.6.14 with ivtv 0.4.0. I am now on kernel 2.6.16 with ivtv 0.6.3. I run a Gentoo distribution. After upgrading everything, I noticed that the audio through mythtv was tinny and distorted. Funny thing is if I type 'ivtvctl -c audio=0xe9' while it is playing, the audio clears up. I have a channel change script to allow mythtv to control my satellite box and have added some commands to detect the current audio mode and re-set it when changing the channel. This fixes my recordings as mythtv will always set the channel when it starts recording. When watching live tv, I can do this manually. Does this sound like a mythtv problem or an ivtv problem? One other thing that's different this time is that I installed ivtv from the Gentoo package. Before I had always downloaded from the ivtv website, compiled and installed manually. It may have loaded different firmware than I had before. This is from the last boot. The latency message is nothing new. ivtv: ==================== START INIT IVTV ==================== ivtv: version 0.6.3 (tagged release) loading ivtv: Linux version: 2.6.16-gentoo-r9 preempt K7 gcc-3.4 ivtv: In case of problems please include the debug info between ivtv: the START INIT IVTV and END INIT IVTV lines, along with ivtv: any module options, when mailing the ivtv-users mailinglist. ivtv0: Autodetected Hauppauge WinTV PVR-150 card (cx23416 based) ACPI: PCI Interrupt 0000:00:0a.0[A] -> Link [LNKC] -> GSI 5 (level, low) -> IRQ 5 ivtv0: Unreasonably low latency timer, setting to 64 (was 32) tveeprom 1-0050: Hauppauge model 26552, rev B268, serial# 7954188 tveeprom 1-0050: tuner model is LG TAPE H001F MK3 (idx 68, type 47) tveeprom 1-0050: TV standards NTSC(M) (eeprom 0x08) tveeprom 1-0050: audio processor is CX25843 (idx 37) tveeprom 1-0050: decoder processor is CX25843 (idx 30) tveeprom 1-0050: has radio, has no IR remote tuner 1-0061: chip found @ 0xc2 (ivtv i2c driver #0) tda9887 1-0043: chip found @ 0x86 (ivtv i2c driver #0) cx25840 1-0044: cx25843-23 found @ 0x88 (ivtv i2c driver #0) cx25840 1-0044: loaded v4l-cx25840.fw firmware (14264 bytes) wm8775 1-001b: chip found @ 0x36 (ivtv i2c driver #0) ivtv0: loaded v4l-cx2341x-enc.fw firmware (262144 bytes) ivtv0: Encoder revision: 0x02050032 ivtv0: Allocate DMA encoder MPEG stream: 128 x 32768 buffers (4096KB total) ivtv0: Allocate DMA encoder YUV stream: 194 x 10800 buffers (2048KB total) ivtv0: Allocate DMA encoder VBI stream: 120 x 17472 buffers (2048KB total) ivtv0: Allocate DMA encoder PCM audio stream: 455 x 4608 buffers (2048KB total) ivtv0: Create encoder radio stream tuner 1-0061: type set to 47 (LG NTSC (TAPE series)) ivtv0: Initialized Hauppauge WinTV PVR-150, card #0 ivtv: ==================== END INIT IVTV ==================== -- tom_p [EMAIL PROTECTED] -- http://nbpfaus.net/~pfau/ _______________________________________________ ivtv-users mailing list [email protected] http://ivtvdriver.org/mailman/listinfo/ivtv-users
