I'm just setting up a MythTV box on an x86_64 platform.  I'm trying to get a
WinTV PVR-500 working.

I can use the "Watch TV" menu item once and I'll be able to change channels,
fast forward, rewind, etc fine - until I stop watching TV.  If I try a second
time, the frontend and backend both seem to hang, and I get evil-looking
messages in dmesg about "Failed api call" and "1000 ms time out waiting for
firmware".

I've found similar threads elsewhere, but haven't really been able to pin down
a solution.  I've tried the 0.8.0 ivtv stuff from atrpms-bleeding, but it
seems that MythTV isn't compiled to work with those drivers (or so I'm
assuming from the ioctl errors I'm seeing in mythbackend's log).

I've tried disabling cpuspeed as referenced to by the "DMA error" threads, but
this hasn't helped me (didn't really expect it to as I didn't have any DMA
errors in dmesg)

I'll try to include relevant messages and versions below.

-Doug

P.S. Sorry for the cross-post from atrpms-users, but it seems more relevant
here.
