Hello,

I have a WinTV PVR-350 card, and am using this with OpenSuse 10.1,
together with ivtv 0.6.3. I have the card working and can record
programs by copying from the /dev/video0 device in the regular way

cat /dev/video0 > test.mpg

The files play fine in mplayer on Linux, but the strange thing is they
only play fine on my xbox (using xbox media center) _sometimes_. Most
times I have tried to record, the files play with lots of colored
artifacts (mainly on the right hand side of the screen), obsuring
almost the entire picture. Or that is to put it to nicely - the screen
is more or less only blinking, colored squares, without sound.

However, I have also managed to record files that plays perfect on the
xbox. I can't really say what things I did different, I have used
ivtvctl and ivtv-tune but can't really say that I used them
differently.

My questions now are:
- given that I have some files that play well, and some that don't,
can I somehow examine them to see if they have been recorded using
different options or similar?
- are there any options that are more likely to cause this that I can
examine further?

I understand that this can come down to bugs in XBMC and the mplayer
that is used there but I still find it puzzling that I get so
different recording results for no obvious reason.

Thanks,
 Claes
