Wow, i looked right over that one ...
But: yes i did delete the complied modules from my kernel and put the ivtv modules in its place, just like the howto tells me to :
abaddon:/lib/modules/2.6.10/kernel/drivers/media/video# ls -la /lib/modules/`uname -r`/kernel/drivers/media/video/tuner.ko
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 215264 Nov 3 16:54 /lib/modules/2.6.10/kernel/drivers/media/video/tuner.ko
abaddon:/lib/modules/2.6.10/kernel/drivers/media/video# ls -la /root/ivtv-0.4.0/driver/tuner.ko
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 215264 Nov 3 16:46 /root/ivtv- 0.4.0/driver/tuner.ko
abaddon:/lib/modules/2.6.10/kernel/drivers/media/video#
creation time difference is from manually copying this module

I'm forced to use an older kernel on my system (2.6.10).
I've first tested with ivtv 0.4.7 and now again with 0.4.0
Did everything in the howto, and it seems to work great (dmesg looks good, firmware is loaded, commands like ivtv-tune seems to work)
but i cannot get in output in an .mpg file.
Anytime i test with this results in an empty .mpg file.
Below is the relevant part of my dmesg.
I do have the samsung tuners, but the drivers seem to recognise them just fine.
Could someone give me some hints ?
thanks,
Ban.
tuner: type set to 4 (NoTuner) by ivtv i2c driver #0
Did you delete the tuner.ko module from your kernel souces and use the one provided by ivtv?
John
