Issue: cat /dev/video0 > test_capture.mpg results in an empty file
Ubuntu 6.10 (2.6.17.10-generic)
NVIDIA FX5200 (glx drivers)
PVR150
IVTV v.7.1
I have been scouring the web for the past two days trying to figure this
out.
What I've Done:
Started with fresh machine install (upgraded all, loaded generic kernel and
nvidia drivers)
Built IVTV drivers from source (no complaints)
Loaded firmware (tried both using the extract utility and downloading the
fimrware**.tar.gz file and copied it to /lib/firmware)
dmesg | grep ivtv

I also tried removing everything (ivtv related) and installing it using
module-assistant according to the ivtvdriver.org ubuntu guide
I thought it might have been hardware so I went out and bought a brand new
PVR150 card, still nothing.
I have had working setups using FC5 and UbuntuDapper, FC5 on the same
hardware, so I thought I would do fresh installs of each of those and try it
out.
Nope, both distros installed/loaded IVTV w/o complaint but cat video0 was
empty.
Now i'm back at a clean Edgy install and still no video.
Any ideas? Troubleshooting tips? Anything?
