I need some help getting IVTV running on FC6. I'm following
instructions on

I have (1) PVR-350 card and (1) PVR-500. I get as far
modprobe saa7127 test_image=1
and successfully see a test pattern using the PVR-350 TV Out function on fb1.
I push on in my joy and issue
ivtvfbctl /dev/fb1 -noglobalalpha -localalpha
per the instructions and receive error message
Option --localalpha must be either on or off
I reformat the command per the help to
ivtvfbctl /dev/fb1 --globalalpha=off --localalpha=on
and it appears to be accepted, but I now get error message
IVTVFB_IOCTL_GET_STATE failed (error: Invalid argument)
I push on in ignorant bliss issuing
v412-ctl -s ntsc
v412-ctl -i 0
v412-ctl -v width=720,height=480
cat /dev/video0 >/tmp/test_capture.mpg
and successfully get a file created. However
mplayer -vo x11 /tmp/test_capture.mpg
fails with
The selected video_out device is incompatible with this codec.
and
FATAL: Could not initialize video filters (-vf) or video output (-vo).
I push on in desperation issuing
/usr/lib/ivtv/ptune-ui.pl
but file ptune-ui.pl doesn't exist.
As a last gasp I push on to attempt to send something to TV Out:
ivtvfbctl /dev/fb1 --globalalpha=off --localalpha=on
(fails with "IVTVFB_IOCTL_GET_STATE failed" as above)
dd if=/dev/video0 of=/dev/video16 bs=64k
I get sound, but no video.
This appears to be consistent with video out incompatible with codec.
I suspect the problem is related to the IVTVFB_IOCTL_GET_STATE, but
unsure what to do about it. Suggestions?
Aside, I'm unsure if I need to add "alias char-major-81-2 ivtv" to
/etc/modprobe.conf to go along with *81-0 and *81-1 since I have 3
receivers between the 2 cards. But that is a problem to solve later :-)
