I updated to a new kernel (2.6.18-1.2239.fc5smp SMP mod_unload 686 REGPARM
4KSTACKS gcc-4.1) and ivtv 0.8.2 yesterday in hopes of getting better
stability than I was getting with 0.8.0. I'm using MythTV 0.20-fixes and
have been getting occasional backend crashes and glitches in the captured
video. After updating I am seeing lots of the following in the log:
ivtv0: All encoder MPEG stream buffers are full. Dropping data.
ivtv0: Cause: the application is not reading fast enough.
ivtv2: All encoder MPEG stream buffers are full. Dropping data.
ivtv2: Cause: the application is not reading fast enough.
ivtv1: All encoder MPEG stream buffers are full. Dropping data.
ivtv1: Cause: the application is not reading fast enough.
And a few of these:
ivtv0 warning: Needed 283644392 bufs for encoder MPEG stream, received
4194304 (buffers free 0, dma 0, full 0)
The backend is a 3Ghz P4 HT machine which is usually 80-90% idle. Anyone
have any ideas for me to try?
