I may be a little dense, but where is the recording profile.
There one in the MythTV web based pages under the settings section.
Is there a file which needs to be modified?

The 720x480 res. is NTSC, Pal seems to be 704x576. Whatever solves the

If you have strange interference and no errormessages when you load the
driver it might be this. Then try to change the recordning res. to 720x480.
This is a known problem, see the troubleshooting guide on [1] ;-) You
can also disable VBI (closed caption / teletext) if you do not need
it as this is the cause.
