Roger,

easy to test: go into mythfrontend, setup, TV-settings, recoding 
profiles. Change the profiles you use to record at NTSC or PAL native 
format and check whether ghosting is still present.

You will either have to reboot or reload ivtv, as the scaling parameters 
are persistent.
