I've been living for a while with DMA errors from my PVR-500 on my
dual socket 462 motherboard. I took a look at the mailing lists again
after upgrading to FC6 and ivtv-0.9.1-123 and not getting any relief
from...

Feb 4 21:42:41 ignatz kernel: ivtv0 warning: ENC: (0) DMA Error
0x00000013 00040001

...which, when watching TV live with mythtv, eventually ends in...

Feb 1 21:22:10 ignatz kernel: ivtv0 warning: ENC: REDO DMA took too many tries.
Feb 1 21:22:10 ignatz kernel: ivtv0 warning: Error Encoder DMA

...and causes an unrecoverable interruption in the video stream.

I noticed on the wiki (http://ivtvdriver.org/index.php/DMA), that I
own one of the motherboards that's known to be susceptible to this
sort of thing (ASUS A7M-266D). Lucky me. I notice all the other
boards listed are AMD-based as well. Some research shows that there
is a common thread or two.

Socket 939 with the VIA Chipset (ASUS A8V Deluxe)
Socket 754 with the nVidia nForce 3 Chipset (ASUS K8N-E Deluxe)
Socket 939 with the nVidia nForce 410 (ASUS AN-VM)
Socket 939 with the nVidia nForce 3 Chipset (GA-K8NSC-939)
Socket 939 with the nVidia nForce 410 (MSI K8NGM2-FID)
Socket 462 with the AMD chipset (mine)

I'm guessing sockets don't make a heck of a lot of difference, but
chipsets (and perhaps manufacturers) do. Needless to say, I'm kinda
at the end of the things to try to fix this current motherboard
through various tweaks (I can't seem to assign the card it's own IRQ,
no matter how much wrestling I go through), and I'm a cheap bastard.

The question comes down to: Does anyone have a Dual Socket A
motherboard that doesn't get DMA errors? It seems like the cheapest
solution is to look for an old Tyan as a replacement, but I'd like to
know that someone _has_it_working_ before I plunk down the cash.

Below is the ivtv bootup message, for completeness. Oh, and I do...

/sbin/setpci -v -s 00:07.1 latency_timer=f0

...to try and help the hard drives keep pace with the card. Didn't
fix it. I have no module options.

Thanks in advance, I know this was long and probably a little bitchy.
Other than this one thing I've gotten a heck of a lot of good TV fun
with this driver.
