I don't understand. I have the 350 and I use the default gentoo ivtv driver
and I don't see anything wrong with the output. Is it only the tv output
that's affected, because I just watch on my pc? Sorry for being a noob.

I too main use my MythTV as a PVR and the output is just superior..
My system board has only two PCI slots so I am using on for
capture/encoder/decoder and video out.
Using Knoppmyth, I have two issues, 1) I have no right audio channel
with my on board sound, previous verison of Knoppmyth worked but not the
version from fall of 2006.
The other is using the 350 output and I can not get Closed captioning to
work, with the web page setting of us PVR350 out.
