Ok..

So... I hate to dredge up an old thread... but I just thought I'd add some
testing in here... I've changed the motherboard in the above setup to an
EpoX 8RDA3+ ... nForce2 Ultra 400 chipset.  Let's see if this sucker is
anymore stable without the ebil VIA chipset...

I had my pvr500 on a biostar mb with the via chipset and if I tried to
record on one tuner and watch live tv from the other it would run for
maybe ten minutes and then hang.  Hard lock up, could not even ssh to
the backend server.

I read all about the via/pvr500 problem and decided to go with a new
mb, I chose one based on the nvidia nrforce chipset and I have not had
a problem in the last 6 months now.

I can even watch live tv from a frontend on my old ibm thinkpad A21M
laptop.
